Sikiru Adepoju is a traditional drum beater, percussionist, recording artist and pioneer of talking drum according to Hollywood records. He became a spotlight in the early 60s after a genre on Afrobeat with the music luminary Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey. Sikiru was born on the 10th November 1950 in Eruwa, Oyo State. Adepoju is the first Nigerian to win a grammy award with Mickey Harts Global Drum Project.

Adepoju career becomes a green light after he collaborates with the great American band drummer Mickey Harts of the Grateful Dead. The Grateful Dead was an American rock band formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California. He is part of Mickey Hart’s projects that drives faster at the 51st Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Sikiru became the first Nigerian art to win a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album in 2008.
