Here is the video and photo clip of the Nigerian Navy New warship acquired under the command of Vice-Admiral Gambo, the Chief of Naval Staff, in 2021. The commissioning of the navy machinery was observed by the Naval commanding officers and other important dignities.
The new ship is assumed to replace the LSTs of the NN, NNS AMBE and NNS OFIOM that were decommissioned. The introduction of the LST to the NN inventory will bolster NN sealift capability. The new warship will be used for the logistic of troops and supply of relief materials during a national emergency. The new LST has a complement of 32 crew and 250 embarked persons and a length of 100.08m.
LST is powered by 2 Caterpillar/Cat 3516 C-rating engines and 4 Caterpillar C-18 generators. The new Navy warship is constructed by Damen-Albwardi Shipbuilding Yard in Sharjah in the UAE, the biggest shipping engineering firm in Sub Saharan Nation.
