The Nigerian Air Force has accentuated the need for heightened regional aid in the fight against insurgency in West African nations. This was made known during the visit of the Inspector General of Senegalese Armed Forces (SAF), General de Division El hadji Daouda Niang to the Headquarters Nigerian Air Force Abuja, Nigeria.
The Chief of Air Staff AM Amao highlighted the importance of joint task forces and why the military organization must synergize their team for tactical services. According to the CAS, past collaborations between the various armed forces in quelling and resolving conflicts in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and recent the Gambia were successful because of regional collaboration.

In his words, ‘Now more than ever before is the time for us to come together to curb the current security challenges in West Africa’. He commends the Senegalese Armed Forces for always being on hand to collude with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) whenever the need emerged. According to him, the collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and Senegalese Armed Forces during its deployment to The Gambia in 2017 led to the airborne of 200 NAF personnel to restore democracy.
In remarks, General El hadji Daouda Niang stated that he was in Nigeria to seek collaboration and strengthen the partnership between the SAF and the AFN. He also recalls his experience working with NAF special forces during the peacemaking parade in the Gambia Republic. God bless the Armed Forces.
