Decoration ceremony of Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya COAS Nigerian Army: President MBuhari has promoted/decorated the newly installed chief of army staff, Major General Faruk Yahaya, with a Lieutenant General rank according to the traditions of the armed forces. Today, the chief commander of the armed forces and other principal officers in the Nigerian Army observed the tradition.

The ceremony took place at the statehouse with vice president Yemi Osinbanjo and other principal officers in the Nigerian Army. At the ceremony, president Muhammud Buhari charged the newly-promoted lieutenant general with NA core values and congratulated him.

The COAS expressed his appreciation to the President for appointing him to serve and command the Nigerian Army as the 22nd COAS Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya expressed his gratitude to the house of the presidency and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Present at the event were the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Honourable Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd), Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, Wife of the COAS, Mrs Salamatu Faruk Yahaya, and other senior government officials.
